Domino® Sugar has been expertly crafted in the United States for more than 120 years. The Domino® brand name was officially adopted in 1901 by a New York-based sugar company. Later, the distinctive yellow bags of Domino® Sugar would become the highly recognizable packaging of granulated sugar that consumers trust for their sweetening needs.
Domino® is primarily made in our refineries located in Baltimore, Maryland and Arabi, Louisiana.
Underneath our Baltimore Refinery’s iconic sign is a state-of-the-art facility capable of producing more than 6 million pounds of sugar per day. The Maryland refinery, which celebrated its centennial in 2022, employs more than 585 employees and supports an additional 125 jobs through trucking, terminal operations, cargo handling and ship piloting.
Our Chalmette Refinery, which has been operating in Arabi, Louisiana on the banks of the Mississippi River since 1909, can produce more than 6 million pounds of sugar per day, which it packages into 70 types, grades and package sizes of premium sugar products. The refinery is one of the region’s largest employers, providing more than 500 direct jobs and supporting an additional 100. In May 2026, American Sugar Refining, Inc. broke ground on the first phase of a landmark modernization project for the plant — the company's largest ever capital investment — that will modernize operations, enhance reliability for customers, and conserve water and energy at the largest cane sugar refinery in the Western Hemisphere.
