Liquid Trailers

DOMINO SUGAR LIQUID TRAILER WASHING REQUIREMENTS

Domino Foods Inc. requires all liquid trailers be food grade trailers only and must comply with DFI prior approved commodity list. All trailers, pumps, and hoses must be sanitized prior to loading liquid sucrose.

The wash frequency for each individual trailer prior to loading liquid sucrose is every 24 hours. If there is more than one load of liquid sucrose delivering within the 24 hour period, sucrose can be top loaded on the “PRIOR SUCROSE LOAD ONLY”, and cannot be mixed with any other sweeteners. Hoses must be washed for every shipment.

If a customer requires liquid trailers be washed between each delivery, those instructions should be on the DFI orders and adhered to. If there is any question or concerns about the cleanliness of a trailer it should be sanitized prior to loading.

The proper method to sanitize a liquid trailer is hot water wash the trailer for a period of 20 minutes, maintaining a temperature between 180 and 190 degrees. The nozzle pressure should range between 80 and 90 pounds, with a flow rate equal to 50 gallons per minute.

In addition to sanitizing the trailer, pumps and hoses, if so equipped, must be sanitized and the trailer, pump cabinet, and hose tubes should be sealed. The seal numbers must be recorded on the shipping documents.

The following bulk liquid commodities are the only acceptable food grade products which can be used in liquid tank truck equipment, which is assigned to transport American Sugar Refining, Inc. liquid sugar products. The backhauling of any other liquid product in this captive service equipment is unacceptable.

DRY Bulk

                Dry Bulk Wash Requirements

Due to the many requests of our customers and changes in the food safety environment, and concerns of our quality team at our various facilities we are requesting immediate implementation of a mandatory dry bulk trailer washing cycle. We are requesting a maximum of 90 days between wash cycles if a trailer, or sooner as the case may need. The carrier should have available proof of this if asked to supply a wash ticket which should reflect the date, last commodity, and wash cycle information.

We trust you find this a reasonable request and have no problem handling this program.

Thanks,
