PRESS RELEASE

March 27, 2023 - Tellus Products, LLC hires K.C. Kuykendall to lead its new global biopolymers division, as the company continues to grow and diversify its sustainable portfolio to displace petroleum-based products.

Mr. Kuykendall will join Tellus’ executive leadership team as Director of Biopolymer Technology and Sales, bringing to the business his extensive experience and knowledge in technology innovation and business development within the U.S. and internationally.

“Tellus is aggressively pursuing growth through innovation,” said Asem Mokaddem, President of Tellus. “Gaining K.C.’s talent in bio-chemistry product development, international business development and corporate leadership is a key step in that journey. We are proud to have him join our team and to launch this new biopolymers business.”

Tellus is a sustainable packaging company that delivers innovative solutions to meet customers’ unique needs. The company produces compostable tableware and foodservice products from upcycled sugarcane and other plant fibers that displace plastic and polystyrene products.

Tellus’ pulping and molding facility is co-located with a sugar mill in South Florida, where it converts sugarcane fiber into value-added products. The launch of the new  biopolymers business continues Tellus’ approach to develop products that are upcycled for higher sustainable uses. Biopolymers have broad application across various sectors, displacing petroleum-based synthetic polymers.

“Tellus’ operation and growth opportunities immediately impressed me,” said Kuykendall, who has spent more than 20 years in product development, sales and marketing, and has led corporate startup teams through organizational development and strategic planning.  “I appreciate the confidence and trust the Tellus leadership team has shown me, and I look forward to delivering results by growing this sustainable business.”

Prior to joining Tellus, Kuykendall served as Vice President Biopolymer Technology & Sales for an alternative fiber processing mill, where he developed several commercial biochemistry products and earned a reputation as a leading innovator within the biopolymers market space.

Kuykendall holds a mechanical engineering degree from Oregon State University and an MPA from the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs.
