C&H Sugar’s Support for Food Bank Helps Feed Thousands of Families this Holiday Season

C&H and FBCCS

ASR Group was happy to make the holidays a bit brighter for families near our C&H® Sugar Crockett Refinery in California through a monetary donation to the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano. Refinery Manager Hitesh Modgil presented the Food Bank with our check for $20,000, continuing our longtime support for the organization that helps feed more than 275,000 people per month.

“We’ve been proud to support our community since 1906, and during our 25-year partnership with the Food Bank, we have helped provide meals to many families in need,” said Hitesh.

We also donate our C&H Sugar to the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano to provide families with a staple ingredient for cooking and baking.

The Food Bank distributes food into the community by operating free food programs each week within Contra Costa and Solano counties and by partnering with 260 local nonprofit organizations to support their hunger-fighting efforts.

In addition to the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano, we are proud to support many local organization in Crockett, such as John Swett High School, the Contra Costa Resource Conservation District and the Carquinez Women’s Club, and to sponsor local events in Crockett such as the annual Sugartown Festival. We are grateful that our employees share our commitment to our community and volunteer their time to support our efforts. Most recently, a group of employees participated a town cleanup with the Crockett Improvement Association.

The Crockett Refinery, a pillar of Bay Area manufacturing for 116 years, provides more than 460 family-sustaining jobs. The plant can produce more than 6 million pounds of sugar per day. Its 32 packaging lines make 100 grades and package sizes of sugar products, which are transported via truck and train throughout the western United States, with 65% being sent to destinations in California.
