Clara Aymerich Earns MBA Degree with Distinction through Tate & Lyle Apprenticeship Program

Clara Aymerich

ASR Group Research & Technology Operations Technical Manager Clara Aymerich, based at our Thames Refinery in London, recently earned her MBA with distinction through our company Tate & Lyle Sugars’ apprenticeship program.

The program highlights our commitment to Talent & Culture while adding value to the organization as we continue to develop a winning team. It began in 2019 and currently supports more than 30 ongoing apprenticeships at our Thames Refinery, Plaistow Plant and Bedford Street Office in London.

Clara was selected for the program due to her strong technical background and skills and her leadership potential. John Kerr, Vice President of Research & Technology, thought the program would help Clara to further develop her strategic thinking, decision-making, public speaking skills and financial acumen to position her for a senior leadership role.

Clara said the key to her success was the support she received from her supervisor, apprenticeship coach and team members.

“John was involved from the beginning and was always very encouraging,” said Clara. “I had to be flexible, and I was so grateful for how flexible and understanding my team members were. The program is well designed to provide a good support structure, and it was encouraging to apply the knowledge I was gaining from the apprenticeship directly to the work I was doing.”

Clara now serves as a manager and has a better understanding of various management styles, and she has gained confidence when facing challenges as a leader. Completing the program also gave her the opportunity to explore new interests.

“My biggest advice for my colleagues is to find your passion and share it with the company so they can support you in achieving your goals,” Clara said. “Don’t give up, because there is always support available.”
